Hi, I’m Deborah, wife to Peter and the mother of three successful daughters, who drive me to be the most I can be.
Peter is from England so we spent every second year in the the northern hemisphere on extended holidays, visiting family and friends. We lived in Tuscany for 9 months, with the girls, as teenagers, where they attended music school (they were music scholarship students here in Perth); then two years later, spent 3 months travelling with them in the south of France.
I’ve had a few different jobs in my lifetime, the most enjoyable, a stylist for Wayne Stubbs Flowers, which was like working for Ziegfield Follies. I have studied fashion design and pattern cutting, and did screen printing. I love vintage and retro clothing, and have reinvented myself many times, living in my fantasy world. And covert the ethos, dress for the occasion. I’m a hoarder, always thinking it will come back …and invariably, it does, I guess if you live long enough.
The girls have left home now, and are off and running with their lives so its time for our next phase. That empty nester, retirement age-ish, ‘show ’em what you can still do’ phase.
We have a town and country existence, spending consecutive weekends on our farm in the Preston Valley, which we bought 12 years ago, after our Italian sojourn on the winery. An 100 acres in the the south west of Western Australia. I say, we, but its usually just me, solo, or girls weekends. Hard labour is not Peter’s bag…whipper snipping and chainsawing, etc, etc, etc. I’m the power tool queen.
Anyway, welcome to my very amateurish blog of our life. Hope you will find some enjoyment, and even insight, and/or reassurance for your own life, for this is meant to be a cathartic endeavour for me, one where I can vent my spleen or boast my achievements, like pulling dead kangaroos out of dams or close encounters with dugites.
